Problem

Real estate agents often struggle to maintain a consistent and engaging presence on social media due to the time and effort required to create personalized content. Despite knowing the value of visibility for building trust and generating leads, many agents fail to post regularly, especially on platforms like Facebook where their audience actively engages.

To kick things off, we partnered with marketing and product to have the big picture and understand better the scenario for agents.

Key Insights

  1. Agents struggle to stay consistently visible due to time constraints.
  1. Agents lack confidence in writing and branding.
  1. Agents see social media as a business driver, not just visibility.

Most of the competitors offer blog/social tools that require agent effort and produce generic outputs.

  • Social posting is generally manual or templated, not AI-personalized.
  • Only share buttons for listings.
  • Often generic outputs and unbranded.

There was an opportunity here for iHomefinder.

Challenges

More standard onboarding considering the timeline.

This was the company's first AI feature, and no one on the team, including me, had shipped one before. I leaned into it by studying AI product design patterns and bringing frameworks to the team, while partnering closely with engineering to understand model constraints and technical tradeoffs. The learning curve was real, but the cross-functional knowledge sharing made the output stronger than if any one discipline had led alone.

More standard onboarding considering the timeline.

The visibility agent launched on mobile, but AI would inevitably expand across iHomeFinder's ecosystem; CRM, website, marketing automation. Even at this early stage, I advocated for design decisions that wouldn't paint us into a corner: consistent interaction patterns, flexible content templates, and a voice/profile system that could serve multiple surfaces. The goal was to ship for mobile while thinking at the platform level.

Systemic constraints and decisions

More standard patterns for the interview process considering the timeline.

Progressive disclosure wasn't feasible within the timeline. Shipped a chatbot with streamlined questions and hybrid response formats to keep completion high.

Interview length vs. content quality.

Pulled agent data from the CRM first; interview only asked what we couldn't infer. Shorter onboarding, same content quality.

Validate value proposition before investing in cross platform complexity.

Facebook first. Most used by agents, fewest API restrictions. Validate the value proposition before investing in cross-platform complexity.
